Mr. Daniel Gregory Thompson of Hyattsville, Maryland formerly of Lumberton, North Carolina answered the call from labor to reward on Sunday October 17, 2021 at the University of Maryland Capital Regional Medical Center in Largo, Maryland.
Gregory was born on January 26, 1953 the sixth child of the late Mr. Orange Titus Thompson and the late Mrs. Annie Caroline Floyd Thompson in Lumberton, North Carolina. At an early age he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined the Hilly Branch Baptist Church. He graduated in 1971 from Southside High School in Rowland, NC. He enrolled in college the fall of the same year in Kentucky. Greg moved to Washington, DC and later to Maryland. He was employed at the University of Maryland for twenty years before retiring as an Events Coordinator.
Greg was united in holy matrimony to the late Genevieve Douglas on May 1, 1985. They remained blissfully married for 20 years until her passing on June 4, 2005. Greg had a joyful and loving soul and was always willing to lend a helping hand. After his retirement he enjoyed watching football and hanging out with family and friends. He was well known in his community and never was a stranger to anyone.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orange Titus Thompson; his wife Genevieve, his brother Neal Thompson, a sister Ethel French, a brother-in-law James French and a nephew, Dwayne Thompson.
His survivors include a daughter, Teneka Douglas, two sons, Daniel Hall and Nicholas Thompson; one granddaughter, Destni Hall ,Three sisters; Sherlene Thompson and Rev. Youlander Thompson of Fairmont, NC; Lucrishann (James) Tolbert of Suitland, Maryland; One brother; Larry Titus (Shirley) Thompson Sr. of Upper Marlboro, Maryland and a host of other relatives, family and friends.
