Annie Ruth Thompson Slaughter, affectionately know as Annie, was born January 9, 1935 to the late Jordan Thompson and Susanna Patterson Thompson in Robeson County.  She departed this life March 27,2024 in Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.

Annie relocated to Brooklyn, New York in 1954 after graduating from Hilly Branch High School.  She was a lifetime member of the Hilly Branch  High School Alumni.  She would visit family in North Carolina after retiring from Ridgewood Healthcare but never seemed interested in relocating back to North Carolina.  Annie enjoyed spending time with her family,  keeping up with the current events by watching the news, she loved watching game shows and The Steve Harvey Show was one of her favorites as well as watching the daytime soap operas (Young and the Restless).  She was quiet and reserved but wasn’t afraid to speak her mind.

Annie married the late John Emmitt Slaughter and to this union 4 children were born.  Michelle Williams (Reginald), Carolyn Carter, Sheila Slaughter and Anthony Slaughter.

Annie Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Peacher Mae Thompson, Lacy Thompson, Howard Thompson, Sylvenaust Thompson, Catherine Thompson Fulmore and JP Thompson and one grandchild Aaliyah Slaughter.

She leaves to cherish her memory 4 children, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Carletta Thompson, and Gertrude Thompson, 1 brother James Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
