Carlin Stephens-Barnes

Mrs.Carlin Stephens-Barnes was born in Fairmont, North Carolina on April 13, 1949. She was born to the late Marveil Leonard and John Henson. She was raised by her mother, Marveil Leonard and her father, Webster Leonard. She was the oldest girl of seven siblings, and she was a very loving and welcoming person her whole life. She graduated from Fairmont High School and post-graduation, she enlisted in the military to become a nurse. Carlin was a well-respected nurse in the military, and after she was honorably discharged, she attended Fayetteville Community College to receive additional nursing training. She then moved on to work in Lumberton, NC and then at Wake Medical Center as a Registered Nurse. Carlin retired from Wake Medical Center and worked briefly at UNC. She was a nurse for over 25 years. Carlin was the mother of two sons who she loved endlessly and adored. She was a devoted Christian woman and enjoyed spending time with her family and helping others. Carlin had a wonderful sense of humor and she positively impacted everyone that was around her. Carlin was preceded in death by her mother Marveil Leonard, father Leonard Webster, her brother Wesley Henson and her sister Connie Harrington. Carlin Stephens-Barnes is survived by her two sons, Jon (Stephanie) Stephens and Cres (Rashina) Stephens and special son of Fairmont, NC; Dwight Taylor. Her two sisters Wanda Roberts of Fairmont, NC and Carol Henson Washington; her three brothers, Martin Leonard, Michael (Nancy) Leonard, and Manuel Leonard of Fairmont, NC. Her grandchildren: Andrea Harris, Johnathan Stephens, Justin Harris, Ahrmoni Stephens, Mianna Stephens, Amaya Stephens, Cres Stephens Jr., and Armiah Stephens of Raleigh, NC. Her great-grandchild Kyrie Mclean. Her two uncles; Lloyd Mitchel, and George (Josephine) Townsend. Her four aunts; Willmay Townsend of Winston-Salem, NC, Novella Gilcrease of Loris, SC, Eva Leonard of Fayetteville, NC and Odessa Leonard of Fairmont, NC and Aunt Carolyn of Fairmont, NC as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. mother of Jon and Cres Stephens both of Raleigh, NC.
