Evelyn Bell Baldwin

April 7, 2021

"She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.  Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate."  Proverbs 31: 25,26,31

Alpha/Omega:  Evelyn Bell Baldwin. was born October 19, 1953 in Robeson County.  On Wednesday, April 7 at 4:39 p.m. in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family, God whispered, come on in and she answered.  She was preceded in death by her parents Annie Mae Baldwin Moore and  Haywood Worley, a sister Mary Louise Baldwin Sutton, special friends Wesley Hinson, Sr., Rita Powell, Viola McCallum, and Carolyn Ford.

Who Was She: “Bell” was a woman of good character who always made her presence made.  She was a long time member of St. John A.M.E. Church.   She graduated from RCC and worked at Perdue Farms until she retired.  Throughout the community, she wore the name "Black Beauty" as she was affectionately called with grace.  She was well known for her lavish style of dress and her hats. Her vibrant colors, 2 piece suits and big hats were always a show stopper.  She never met a stranger and was considered  the matriarch of the Baldwin/Moore family.   Hearing Mom, Mommy, and Grandma always put a smile on her face.  Her great grand-daughter Treasure always brightened her day and made her feel better.  Bell also loved to play Bingo.  She was the glue to her extended Bethea family especially during the annual Labor Day Bethousand/Momillion Softball game. She was our Whatnot and Miss-a-pull.
