Mrs. Francina Hester of San Diego, California quietly and peacefully entered into eternal sleep on Wednesday October 28, 2020 at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California. Francina was born and raised in a small rural town in North Carolina. After graduating high school, and looking for adventure, she joined the Navy at age seventeen and served on active duty for 20 years. She began her navy career as an aviation electrician, then advanced to recruiter and ended as a career planner.
Francina developed a love for teaching and volunteered many hours of her time in her community. She attended National University, in San Diego which is a private, non profit university and received her Bachelor’s in Social Psychology and her Master’s in Special Education. She attended Brandman University in Irvine, California and received a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. Francina served as a Special Resource teach at High Tech High Chula Vista and medically retired. She was part of the original staff of High Tech High in 2007.
Francina became ill and was diagnosed with Giant Cell Arteritis, an autoimmune disease that she battled for nearly five years. Even during these recent difficult times she continued to flash that "trademark smile". Francina had loving and faithful family support and the prayers of those who loved her. Francina was preceded in death by her fathers, Leonard Thompson, and Berlester Campbell and mother-in-law, Reggie Murphy.
Francina leaves behind to cherish her precious memories: her mother, Pauline Campbell, her loving husband, Dan Murphy; her children, Jasmine, Easter, and Nicholas; her grandchildren, Malaki, and Zion; sister, Jacqueline, brother, Berlester Campbell II, Gary Burnette, Larry Burnette, David Burnette, Twyla Grice, Yolanda Baker, Lynette Thompson (all in NC)
