Mrs. Inez Connor Barnes, 100, of Rowland, North Carolina departed this life on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at home. Ms. Inez as she was loving called by so many in Robeson County, was born on April 22, 1920 to the late Mr. Doc Connor and the late Mrs. Hattie Barnes Connor in Robeson County. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Earl Barnes, her brothers, Adron, Tom, L J, Gomery, and Willie, and a sister Doretha.
Ms. Inez was a very independent individual, well rounded and could strike up a conversation at any time about any issue. She in her early years shared the work of Tenant Farming with her late husband. Afterwards she spent some years in textile and once she retired, and determined to stay active she became a CNA assisting many in the neighborhood who needed help in remaining in their homes. She never met a stranger. She was a member of the Barnesville Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and doing all the things a good mother does to make a home run smoothly for her family. Even at the golden age of One Hundred years she was still able to maintain her own home, grocery shop and enjoyed the independence in driving her Chevy. She lived her life with purpose but with her own flair. Her zest for life and her individual style will be truly missed.
To mourn her passing are the ones she loved most: her son Edward Rudy Barnes (Barbara) , six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
