Jessie Vivian (Evans) McCormick

December 23, 1950 ~ January 14, 2022 (age 71)

Mrs. Jessie Vivian Evans McCormick passed away on Friday January 14, 2022, at Atrium Health University City Hospital of Charlotte, N.C.  She was 71 years old.   Jessie V. was born in Robeson County on December 23,1950.  She was the daughter of both the late Jessie James Evans and Mary McCain Evans.  To know Jessie V was to love her.  She never met a stranger and loved sharing her ideas and learning new ideas.    She attended Olympic High School in Charlotte and was a good student.  Jessie was a member of First Baptist Church North Main Street in Fairmont, NC.  She was a faithful member of the Usher board and served faithfully until her health began to fail and she moved to Charlotte, NC to be near her children, Lonnie and Jessica.

Jessie V. loved spending time with her grandchildren.  Her role as " Nana" was very important to her, and she played it well. She was a dedicated mother and mother-in-law, fantastic Granny who spent prime time with her grands, a loving sister, and a faithful friend.   Jessie worked several jobs but mostly enjoyed her time of employment with several major hotels in housekeeping as a room clerk.   The most memorable thing about her was her infectious smile.  No matter what her lot of the day was, she always wore a smile and had her "Gum".   Jessie shared with her siblings, friends and those that she felt comfortable with about her illness without complaining.  The hymn "It Is Well with My Soul" describes her journey of life.

Jessie has gone from our sight and linked her chain with her loved ones gone on before her:  her parents, and one sister Paula Evans.

Although she will be missed , she will always remain in the hearts of those who loved her most: her son Lonnie (Marion) Evans; daughter Jessica Moore and a special nephew, Aric Evans; Eight Grandchildren: Tyleshia Cherry, Ariel Dobbins, Tiasia McDonald, Phillip Moore, Jaquita Moore, Adriana Smith, Malia Evans Makayla Evans.  Great-Grand children....also her siblings  James (Debra) Evans, Angela Evans, James Dudley, Candace Mungo, Charles Evans, Jerry McLean, Shirley , Christopher Evans, Denice Gill, Mutazz & Nellie Elbay, Henry and Regina Evans, Harry & Shantel McLean, Terry and Rebecca Evans and a host of other family and friends.
