Juanita Baker Smith

Mrs. Juanita Baker Smith of Rowland, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Saturday August 22, 2020 at Southeastern Health, in Lumberton, North Carolina after a brief illness. She was blessed with Ninety-Eight golden years on this earth, and her living was not in vain.  She was a productive citizen.  Mrs. Juanita was the daughter of the late Mr. Frank Baker and  the late Mrs. Sally McCormick Baker.  She was born and raised in Robeson County and attended grade school in Rowland.  She graduated from Fayetteville State University with a BA Degree in Education.  She taught school for many years and touched the lives of many family's for generations.  

Mrs. Juanita married Mr. Thomas Jefferson Smith, and they enjoyed many happy and fruitful years. She always took great pride in her personal appearance, and set good examples for the lady's in the neighborhood.  Mrs. Juanita was always one who could be seen driving around town in her very nice up to date automobile. She was blessed with good health and the ability to live independently until shortly where she required the assistance of her Goddaughter, Freezell Herring.  To know her was to love her.  She was an active participating member of Mt. Pelier Presbyterian Church in Rowland, North Carolina.  

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sibling, Mary Edna Taylor - Harris by less than a year.

Immediate family who have survived Juanita are:  Herbert Harris, brother-n-law,  Elizabeth (Waverly) Barrett , Nieces and nephews: Evelyn, Robert, Elizabeth (Bea), Dwight, Reginald. Larry Kenneth and  Herbert L,  Many cousins and great cousins on the Mitchell and Baker side of the family, Yolanda, God Daughter and a host of other relatives and friends.
