Ms. Julia Faye Jones Watson, daughter of the late S.J. and Essie Lee Jones was born on February 28, 1949 and departed this life on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. She is proceeded in death by three sisters, Alice, Nora, Essie and three brothers Linwood, Johnny and Luke. Julia graduated from Rosenwald High School in 1967 and afterwards attended Robeson Technical College and received an Associate degree in Business Administration. She joined the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church at an early age and worked faithfully in the finance department for many years.
Julia was employed by Robeson County and worked as a Finance Accounting Specialist in the finance department for 31 years. She also worked part time at South Eastern Regional Medical Center as a Dispatch Operator for 19 years. She was a member of the United Order of Salem Lodge#170 and served as their Secretary. Julia was a very soft spoken and easy-going person with a heart of gold. She was a very hard worker and worked diligently to take care of her family.
During her early years in life, she loved to sew and was very good at it. So much so, that she made the majority of her and her family’s clothes. She also loved to bake and was known by most for her earthquake cakes and her cream cheese pies, AKA white pie as the kids in the family like to call it. Anyone who knew Julia will tell you that she was a very kind hearted, loving and giving person who would do anything she could for you. Family was everything to her, especially the little children. She loved and spoiled them rotten and some of the grown ones too. We called her the mini “Wal-Mart” because she always had everything you needed or wanted.
Left to cherish her memories are two sons Dwayne Watson (Gail) of Rowland, NC, Anthony Watson (Robin) of Fountain, CO., plus daughter Savannah (Jamaine) of Blythewood, SC, loving and devoted sister Margie Jackson (Staley) of Lumberton, NC, and Brenda Wallace of High Point, NC, two brothers, Al Jones of Raleigh, NC and Curtis Jones (Kathleen) of Orrum, NC. Four grandsons AJ Watson of Fountain, CO, Dante Watson of Scott Air Force Base, IL, Cameron and Emmanuel Mack of Blythewood, SC. One special niece Jessica Jones of Raleigh, NC, three sister in-laws, Tamalyn Jones of Columbia, SC, Angela Jones of Charlotte, NC and Joan Jones of Dillion, SC and a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves an extended family, Betty Williams and Dorothy Jameson (sisters), step-daughter Renea Inman (Ike) of Charlotte, NC, her buddies Claudell Reddix and the Crutchfield family of Silver Springs, MD and Barbara Johnson of Columbia, SC, Rita Watson (niece and care giver), Eli Watson (nephew), her neighbors Andrew Shorty Grice and Charles Hammonds, Nathaniel Thompson, and Connie Canery (cousin and classmate), Vickie McKoy and Angelon Thompson (classmates), Lois, Linda, Judy and Ronnie Williams (life-long friends) of New Burgh, NY and her church family here at the Star.
