Lenward Watson

January 28, 1954 ~ June 6, 2022 (age 68)


Mr. Lenward Watson was born on January 28, 1954 in Dillon, SC to Samuel Watson Sr. and Vina Mae Stackhouse Watson. He departed this life on June 6, 2022 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC.
Lenward was raised in Robeson County and attended Fairmont High School.  He felt the need to serve his country and after graduation joined the U.S Army where he served for 20 years protecting his country.  He worked hard while in the Army and sought to advance thus achieving the rank of  E6,  Staff Sergeant.  He served during the Operation Desert Shield/Storm era.  He received many medals namely the Army Service Ribbon  and the National Defense Service Medal.

Lenward was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Fairmont and served on the usher board for many years. He was also a Mason and was dedicated to GAZA Lodge  # 427 of Fairmont for many years where he enjoyed the fellowship with the Masonic brothers. In 1972 he met Debra McCormick and married in 1978. To this union one son was born, Terrence.  

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife Debra C. Watson, Charlotte, NC; Son Terrance Watson (Lakeshia); three grandchildren, Tiana Watson, Charlotte, NC, Rasheen Scott, Fairmont, NC Aniyah Watson, Charlotte, NC. Six great-grandchildren; Mariah Harris, Jaylie Burton, Zayla Burton, Amiracle Scott, Amelia Scott, Amir Scott. One sister; Marsha Moore, Raleigh, NC. Five brothers, Samuel Watson Jr. of Fairmont, NC; Jerome Watson (Helen) of Boston, MA; Bonell Watson (Sherry) of Boston, MA; Elton Watson (Shelia) of Richmond, VA; Clerance Watson (Rochelle) of Atlanta, GA. Mother in law; Dorothy McCormick; five brothers in law and 6 sisters in law
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Watson Sr and Vina Mae Watson, step father Champion Grice, two brothers Joseph Watson and Bruce G. Watson. Sister Mae Gwendolyn Faulk. Nephew Elton (Man) Watson Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
