Mrs. Lula Barbara Hill Strickland, daughter of the late Wilmer and Ophelia Gerald Hill was born in Robeson County, North Carolina on Tuesday September 2, 1941. She entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 10, 2022 while hospitalized at First Health Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Lula was a graduate of Proctorville High School and attended Fayetteville Teachers College in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She retired after many years of employment in the Robeson County School System where she served as a teacher's assistant, activity bus driver, secretary and SIMS Date Manager. For many years she shared smiles with the community as an employee of Belk of Lumberton. Lula joined Spring Branch Baptist Church at an early age and remained there until her death.
Lula was united in marriage to James Stewart Strickland and two children were born to this union, Marta Roneice and Stewart Duvall.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband James Stewart Strickland of the home; one daughter Marta Roneice Campbell (Dennis) of Yorktown VA, a son, Stewart D. Strickland of the home; two brothers, Wilbur Grady Hill of Augusta, GA and Delfin (Tony) Hill of Proctorville NC; four grandchildren, Captain Caelan Campbell (USAF) of Boston, MA, Devin Campbell of Richmond, VA , Kaytice and Jabari Strickland of the home; a dear friend Laurie Cromartie and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
