On Friday September 10, 2021 the death angel eased its way into the room of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend Mr. Mack Alford. He was a patient at McLeod Medical Center of Dillon, South Carolina when he was raptured to be with the Lord at the Golden Age of 92. He was born on January 1, 1929 in Rowland, North Carolina to the late Mr. Ezekiel Alford and the late Mrs. Janie Chavis Alford.
At an early age Mr. Mack accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church which is now New Hope United Methodist Church of Rowland, NC. He attended Southside High School. Mr. Mack did his share of farm work in his youth as did everyone else in the community.
Mr. Mack was a man of good character, who loved the Lord and served Him through the love he had for his family, relatives, church members, friends and the community.
When time came for Mr. Mack to choose his own occupation and make his own mark on the world, contributing as a productive citizen he chose to be a truck driver. It was on one of his long distance hauls to Emporia, Virginia at a truck-stop that he met his partner and wife of over 40 years Mrs. Ella Bertha Epps Alford. They made Rowland their home and this is where he live out his years until death parted then on Friday September 10th. They were prominent civic minded citizens of the town of Rowland and participated in its growth and development. Mr. Mack, tall in statue was always well groomed and handsomely dressed.
Mr. Mack was preceded in death by his parents Mr. Ezekiel Alford and Janie Chavis Alford, a daughter Annie Mae and her mother, all of his siblings and one son William Jordan.
He is survived by his wife Ella Bertha Alford of the home , one daughter Annie Lee Thomas of Rowland, 5 grand-children and 14 Great-Grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Eva (Sam) Moore of Chesapeake, VA and Christine Dubose of Emporia, VA; several dedicated and devoted nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
