Mrs. Mattie Eula Lennon Graham age 78, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2021 at the Lumberton Health and Rehabilitation Center of Lumberton, NC. She was born on August 29, 1942 in Fairmont, North Carolina to loving parents, Mr. Charlie French Lennon and Mrs. Eulee Filmore Lennon. She grew up in a loving home and was raised on the farm where tobacco, corn, cotton and gardens with all the vegetables one could ask for was the norm.
After graduating from Rosenwald High School she went to Brooklyn, New York where for many years was her home. She was employed with Shearson Lehman a financial brokerage company and had a successful career for over thirty years. She was an active member of Concord Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York where she worked diligently with the usher board. She was also a very active member of the NAACP.
While attending Concord Baptist Church she met and fell in love with and late married John Graham. After retirement Mattie and John made a decision to live out their golden years in Matties home town, Fairmont, North Carolina. Their desires were to unite with a church of their choise in Fairmont, but due to illness their hopes never prevailed. They both would regularly say, "Theres nothing like being in the house of the Lord".
Mattie was preceded in death by her parents , Charlie and Eulee Lennon; brothers: James Arthur, Morrie, Frenchie and Robert Arnell.
Mattie leaves to cherish her beautiful memories brother Kenneth Lennon (Geneva) Sisters; Marie Robinson (Mack); Bernice Lennon Clark (Sam), Two Uncles: Amos Filmoree of Rowland, North Carolina and Jake Filmore of Newark, New Jersey; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
