Michelle McCrimmon Belsches, 61, of Richmond, Virginia formerly of Fairmont, NC passed away on February 19, 2024, after a brief illness.
Michelle was born on February 16, 1963, to Lear McCrimmon Hughes and the late King Smith in Fairmont, NC. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized. She joined First Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. J.J. Johnson. She was a very active in the church and was a faithful member of the youth choir and youth missionary group.
Although Michelle was reared most of her life in Fairmont, she relocated to New York and graduated from Bay Ridge High School in Bay Ridge, NY in 1981. After graduating high school, she went on to study Business Administration at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, on a full academic scholarship.
After graduating with a degree in Business Administration from Virgina Commonwealth, she went on to work for the US Department of Education and also spent many years in management in the food service industry in Virgina, Michigan and North Carolina.
Michelle was predeceased by husband Howard Belsches, father, King Smith, maternal grandparents: Lawrence and Willie Mae McCrimmon; paternal grandparents: Janie Cozart and Jacob Pulley and Uncle and Aunt Bruce and Magnolia S McNair who reared him; Uncles: Wade McCrimmon and James McCrimmon and brother Kenneth “Foots” McCrimmon.
She leaves to cherish her memory mother Lear McCrimmon Hughes of Brooklyn, NY; Siblings, Lamont (Rhonda) Hughes of Charlotte, NC; Taisha Hughes of Troy, NY, Nicole Clay and Theda Clay both of Brooklyn, NY, Vanessa Blunt, Trenton, NJ; Ife F. Jefferson, Lawrenceville, GA; Beloved Aunt: Phostenia McCrimmon, Fairmont, NC; Uncles: Ret. CSM Robert T (Pat) McCrimmon, Columbus, GA, James and Thelbert Smith both of Durham, NC; bonus mother: Marion Smith of Fayetteville, NC; and special cousin “Smitty” of Fayetteville, NC. Great Aunt Elsie Ray Brown of hadbourn NC. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and colleagues.
