Obituary

 Teco McKinnon Sr. 57, of Dumfries, Virginia was born in Lumberton, NC to Doris McKinnon Hodges & Johnnie Jones on 08/04/1964.  He passed away on December 10, 2021.   He was raised in Brooklyn, NY, educated there and touched many lives there before returning home to Lumberton NC to live, which is where he met the love of his life.   He married Michelle Dawson McKinnon on 04/17/1993 in Dillon, SC. He and his wife moved to Virginia to start their lives together.  He graduated from John J College.  He worked as a Resource Coordinator for Inova Fairfax Hospital for 14 years.  He was a family man, DJ, mechanic, computer guy, jack of all trades, teacher, story teller, friend, and so much more.  He served with the audio visual ministry at Star of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Triangle, Virginia. 

Teco is preceded in death by Verzell Larry Hodges (step-father),and his sister,  Shelia Ann McKinnon. 

Teco is survived by his wife Michelle Dawson McKinnon of the home. Children: Sheea Denay Dawson, O’Shae Anquelle Ja’Quan McKoy, Teco McKinnon Jr. (Chrystal). Siblings: Donald McNeill (Andrea) of NC, Brenda Smith of NC, Keith Caldwell of NC, Johnny Lee McKinnon of Lumberton NC, Regina Morris (Herbert) of NC, Connie Murphy (James) of NC, Sylvia McKinnon of NY, Susan McNeill of Lumberton NC, Takisha McKinnon of Lumberton NC, Kenneth McKinnon of Newark, NJ, Jamie McNeill (Paulet) of NC, Chris Jones of NC, Vickie Davis (Jessie) of Newburgh NY, Lisa Jones of Lumberton, NC, Treetie Cain of Lumberton, NC, Dwyane Jones of Lumberton, NC, Delaine Baldwin (Phil) of Lumberton NC, Shameka Williams (Wilbert) of NC, Ashley Copeland Hammond of Lumberton NC. Parents: Doris McKinnon Hodges (mother) of Lumberton NC, Johnnie Jones (father) of Lumberton NC, Alma Lee Dawson (mother-in-law) of Lumberton NC. Grandchildren: Gabriel Omari Dawson of Stafford, VA, Michael Dayvion Dawson of Stafford VA. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews that loved him so much.

The family of Teco wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. William B. Ershler and his staff at Inova Fairfax Hospital, Star of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church family of Triangle Va, Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home of Virginia, Hills Funeral Home, of Fairmont, NC , Lightening Temple Church of Red Springs NC, family and friends.

After a service in Woodbidge VA. on Tuesday December 21, 2021 Teco's body will  be transported home for a celebration of life in Red Springs and burial in the Thompson family cemetery in Fairmont..
