Thomas McCallum Obituary

OBITUARY

Thomas Edward McCallum, son of the late Mrs. Jessie B McCallum Alford and Mr. Edward McArthur was born in Alfordsville, NC on Aug. 23, 1951.  He departed this life on May 12, 2023.

Thomas moved to Roosevelt (Long Island) New York at the age of 10.  Where he attended Roosevelt public school.  After high school he worked various jobs; he obtained his CDL’s and drove long distance for several companies and worked as a CNA for a nursing home.  He eventually made his way back to Rowland where he lived out the rest of his days.  At some point he joined St. James Missionary Church, where he became a faithful member.  He enjoyed the choir and hearing the word of God come forth.  He especially liked getting dressed for Sunday service.  Anytime he had an opportunity to “Get Dressed”  you could find him sitting around with his matching outfit, shoes shined and a fedora on his head!

Thomas’s favorite scripture was Psalm 23 “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.”  Thomas placed his hope in the Lord and we find great peace in this fact!

He loved kids and his favorite holiday was Thanksgiving because all of the family would gather together and celebrate the holiday.  He also enjoyed watching football and westerns and cooking .

Thomas’s loving mother proceed him in death Jessie B. Alford along with his father Edward McArthur and step father, William D Alford and step son Barron Cobb.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his son Stephen McCallum (Sabrinna) of Rockingham, NC 3 stepchildren, Jennifer, Judy and Keith Cobb all of Long Island, NY; two sister’s Pamela Alford of Rowland, NC and Patricia McArthur of Greenville, NC and two Nephews Roosevelt Alford (Pam) of Columbia, SC and Victor Alford of Charlotte, NC.  Two nieces Tamika Robinson of Washington, DC and Patrice Evans- McArthur of Charlotte, NC.   Four Aunts, Sally Thompson, Nancy Reeves and Ceclia Reeves all of Rowland, NC and Mrs. Geneva McArthur of GA.  A few best friends Gerald Jones and John Crummel of Long Island, NY and Bobby Robinson of Rowland NC.  In addition to a host of close family and friends who loved him dearly.
