Mr. Vernon Wade Moody, was born on December 10, 1963, in Robeson County to Ollie Moody Walters and the late Cleveland "CL" Walters. He departed this earthly life at the age of 59 on July 11, 2023 at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, North Carolina. Vernon better known as "BaBa", to his friends and family attended the public schools of Robeson County and graduated in 1983. He was employed at JD Woods of Fairmont, NC for many years. He was also employed as an orderly with Mt. Olive Family Care Home of Fairmont, and Whiteville, North Carolina. "BaBa" was a hard worker and hustled cutting grass and doing handy-man jobs around the house.
Vernon joined St John AME Church at an early age. He loved going to church with his family until his health declined. BaBa loved spending time with family and friends and he was very quiet. He was a happy soul and always greeted you with a smile. He loved watching TV and cheering for his favorite football team the Washington Red Skins.
He is preceded in death by his father Cleveland (CL) Walters and his Grandmother Mrs. Mattie Mae Moody.
He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Ryan Moody of Florida and daughter Shanella Moody Baker of Maxton, North Carolina. His mother Ollie Moody Walters of Fairmont, North Carolina; four sisters, Loretta Moody of Fairmont, NC, Debra Addison of lumberton, NC; Ann Moody of the home and caretaker of Fairmont, NC Rhonda Winburn (Darius) of Charlotte, NC and Maria McCallum of Virginia Beach, VA; Three brothers, Stanley Moody (Carolyn) of Maritta, NC., Daryl Moody of Fairmont, NC, and Rodney Moody of Columbia, South Carolina. One aunt, Mattie Lee White of Queens, New York; three uncles; Bobby Walters, Jim Walters and Ronald Walters all of Fairmont, NC; One special cousin, Morris White and special friends Betty Joe Williams and Joyce Hunt. Also a host of nephews, nieces and friends. Special thanks to the staff at Robeson County Dialysis Center and "We Care for You" for the dedicated and loving care they rendered to BaBa. Also, a special thanks to his home care CNA Ms. Lovely and his sister Ann with whom he lived.
