Obituary

Virginia Patricia Ford was born on May 27, 1952  and departed this world on August 25 2022 at UNC Health Southeastern , Lumberton, North Carolina. At a early age Virginia joined Ebenezer Baptist church. She held numerous positions within the church. She was a dedicated and faithful member  who loved the Lord and enjoyed a good worship experience.  Virginia enjoyed singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and planning Woman’s conference's. Virginia attended Rosenwald Elementary School and graduated from Fairmont High School class of 1970. Virginia's first place of employment was Fairmont knitting mill as a secretary.  After leaving the Fairmont knitting mill, Virginia started working with Robeson County Board of Education as a secretary. Virginia then went to work at the University Of North Carolina at Pembroke in the admissions office for over 36 years. While at UNC Pembroke she touched the lives of many children and their parents.  She was a support system for many. She also worked for 25 years at McNeill Jewelers of Lumberton.  

Virginia was  known to many as Aunt Virginia or VA. Virginia was a leader and a go getter that loved her family and she loved people. She would always greet you with a smile.  Virginia was an excellent mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and just an all around great person who was loved by all.  

Virginia leaves to cherish her memories : her daughter Jayne Latrice Nixon ( Akaieem ) , her grandchildren Liam and Ava , her mother Ellenore Williams , three siblings ; Mae Helen Merchant , Charles Williams ( Mazine) , and Coretha McDougald ( Alfred) ; one aunt on her maternal mother side, Helen Hill  of Trenton , NJ. Virginia had three aunts and two uncles .  Betty Coleman( John) , Carolyn Ford , Herbert ( Sheila ) Alberta Pittman , Tim Ford ( Sarah ) and Sussie Mae Ford. Virginia also leaves her nieces and nephews who hold a special place in her heart.  She had a hand in raising Micheal Merchant , Vanessa Nicholson ( Jerome ) , Lacentia Merchant , and Kenta McDougald. She leaves also  three additional nephews , three great nieces, one great nephew, four great, great nephews. She  is preceded in death by her father Clifford Jake Ford .
