Walter Alford Obituary

 

Mr. Walter Alford was born on March 26, 1946, to the late Eunice Ford, mother and Dallas James Dickey, father.  Walter transitioned on January 8, 2024 at his home in Rowland, NC. Walter graduated from Southside High School  in 1964. Walter served his country in the United States Army.  Walter then went on to attend the University of Cincinnati to study Art. He also worked a few years for General Motors in Detroit, Michigan. Next, after returning to his home town he was employed as a school bus driver for Robeson County School System until his retirement.

Walter was proceeded in death by his wife, Shirley Alford and two adopted children, Paula and Cortez Conn of Detroit Michigan.

Walter leaves to cherish his memory a son, Isaiah Hendry of Dunn, NC. Three sisters, Gladys Ford (Ronnie) of Parkton, NC. Joyce Barrett (Frank) of Henderson, NC.  Dalphine Blake (Oscar) of Virginia. Two brothers Willard Dickey (Wanda) of Washington, DC., John Leggette (Faye) of Fayetteville, NC. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family.
