William Charles Ware

Mr. William Charles “Billy” Ware was born on June 27, 1942, in Cumberland County, NC. He departed this life on July 29, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Essie Ware and Fredie and Catherine Grice, four siblings, Cora McDowell, Mary Rogers, William Grice, and Johnny Grice.

Billy, as he was best known, graduated from Proctorville High School, and later was drafted into the Army. Most of his adult life was spent in New Jersey until he decided to come back home to North Carolina. He worked at Elkay Southern Corporation until his retirement. He tried his hand at growing vegetables in his backyard, but his favorite hobby was taking care of his cats. He loved them and took care of them like they were his children.

He leaves to cherish his memories one daughter, Angela Lowery-Taylor (Jimmy) of Whitsett, NC, two sons Daryl Ware of Hope Mills, NC and William Ware of West Virginia, four grandchildren, Kenyatta, De’Aundre, Natalie, and Amelia, three sisters, Joyce Grice Rogers (Clark), Gracie Worley (Ricky) both of Fairmont, NC, Carolyn Spence (Reuben) of New Jersey, one brother Andrew Grice (Janet) of Fairmont, NC and a host of nieces and nephews.
